For this project, I was given special access to Miami University's new XR Stage to create a virtual scene with set extension and front-plate & back-plate capabilities.
I created all the models myself in Maya and then textured them in Substance Painter, I then imported everything into Notch where I set up the particles and lighting. In Notch I configured the key features like set extension and layered everything to make sure the front plate worked correctly. I had help from other students to import media into the project and pipe it through disguise media server. Then I was able to present the project to investors of the new stage.
The use of front-plate allows the scene viewers see in-person to be different from what the camera sees.
The set extensions capabilities of the scene allows the physical camera int he studio to move along with the virtual camera to get different perspectives of the environment
